A Lazy Old Day…

Today started off with a couple of hours of work (a short day because my work family were heading off to Spain for a week! Jealous!) and then ended with a whoooollee lot of lazy relaxing.  I guess last night’s Fancy date night took it out of me!

< Side Note > The sky looked like this for a lot of the day…

Sky Patterns!

I LOVE when the sky is like this.  It’s like the sky is making patterns, beautiful!

Lunch today was a bit of a snack attack.  I was having a hard time committing to one meal.  One minute I was in the mood for eggs, the next a sandwich, the next…donuts! So, I decided to have a couple of different snacks to get me through my midday meal.

I started off with some Ritz crackers topped with muenster cheese.

Hint of Salt Ritz

Lunch snack # 1!

I paired the crackers with a handful of raspberries.

Lunch snack number two was the real winner! I opted for a whole wheat tortilla topped with peanut butter and a handful of Kashi Go Lean Crunch.  Ahhh yum!

PB and Kashi tortilla

This little baby packed a protein punch, and was delicious!  A nice hot cup of tea rounded out my snack attack lunch.

Hello old friend!

The majority of my afternoon was taken up with a nice Skype chat with my sissy and my mum and then I had a nice old nanna nap.  I blame the nap entirely on this girl…

Sleepy Girl!

She looked so comfortable! Can’t you just hear her coaxing me, “come on human mummy, you know you want to nap”.  You were right again Annie girl! A nap was just what I needed!

After some quality House Hunters watching (and dying inside at the prices of homes in San Francisco), Chris came home and dinner time had rolled around!

Thank you Lentil Soup for providing yet another delicious meal.

Lentil Soup Leftovers

This time I paired the deliciousness with a slice of buttered whole wheat toast.  Perfecto!

Needless to say, today was a no-workout day.  I’m excited to get a nice sweat on tomorrow.  Who’s going to join me?

Now I’m off to shower and hit the sack.  Sweet dreams world!

Rock N Roll?

Work today brought me another dose of wisdom courtesy of Charlie Brown.  I swear, you can learn so much from children’s books.  If you haven’t read one in a while, I highly suggest picking one up, flipping through the pages and having your mind blown!

Go on, try it!

Today, I stumbled upon this little gem…

Charlie Brown Goes to School

Amen, Charlie Brown! It just so happened that a few minutes after reading this, I stumbled upon this…

SF Rock and Roll 1/2 Marathon!

Was it a sign?? The Rock N Roll Half Marathon is coming to San Francisco! I’ve heard lots of good things about the Rock N Roll series and it sounds like a fun way to start!  It’s not until April 7th so that would give me almost a full 5 months to get ready.  I’m definitely going to see how I go next week in my first ever 5K and if I even like the whole race experience, but I’m keeping this in the back of my mind.  I hear you loud and clear Charlie Brown!

Message for today…try something new!

Lunch today was another delicious helping of last night’s lentil soup.  I love having leftovers, especially leftovers that taste even better the next day.  Best!

Lentil Soup 2.0!

Bonus Workout…

I love Wednesdays because I always get a little bonus exercise in.  Wednesday is music class day for the little ones which means I get in a hilly 3 mile walk with a double stroller and two kids who are continuously getting bigger and heavier! Pushing a double stroller uphill is no joke.  After the plank workout this morning, my arms were seriously sore!

Another little extra bonus was that it was a beautiful afternoon and I got to walk the kids home in the famous California ‘glow’.  If you haven’t experienced California in the fall/autumn, you are missing out!

California dreaming..

Now I am back home and about to start thinking about what to wear tonight because Chris and I have a special date night planned!

We have been saving up our cash back rewards from our credit cards to go out for a fancy shmancy dinner, and tonight’s the night. Woop Woop!

I hope you all have some nice plans for your Wednesday night!

Married Moment!

Hi everyone out there! I hope your Tuesday is going swimmingly. Mine sure is!

Lunch today was a packed lunch courtesy of dinner last night.  I gave myself a little extra time before heading off to work to whip up a nice healthy lunch to enjoy with the kiddies.

Steak salad.

Steak salad…oxymoron?? I paired the left over chunks slices of steak with some baby spinach, baby carrots and sliced red peppers.  I dressed it all with a little bit of balsamic vinegar.  It was nutritious and delicious! Bonus!

I also made sure to pack one of my peanut butter energy bites to get me through the afternoon.  It worked a treat! I’m not sure how I ever lived without these babies.  Energy and taste galore!!

Today was another gorgeous day in the city, so I made sure to spend some good time outside with the kiddies.  Clear blue skies and cold weather calls for one thing…fur!

Fur day!

Love wearing my cozy jackets.  I’m just going to put it out there…’it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas’!! (Yes I know it’s not even Thanksgiving yet, but a girl can dream!).

In amongst all the loving I was laying on San Francisco today, something exciting/funny/creepy happened.  Chris and I had a full-blown ‘married moment’.  We had the exact same thought at the exact same time!! We were texting back and forward to see what we should do this weekend (yes, we live for the weekends).  And then this happened…

Married moment!

It really happened! We’re meant to be! Orrr we’re both just really craving a trip to Santa Cruz, one or the other.  Needless to say, I was pretty excited about it.

I got home from work close to 5 today which is about an hour past my usual mental workout cut off  time but I was really feeling the motivation today! Since it was already getting dark outside, it was the perfect time for a workout DVD.  So, I spent half an hour with my girl Jillian Michaels.

Hey Jillian! Wanna hang out??

I did Jillian’s ’30 Day Shred’ and opted to go all out with level 3.  It felt great to do this workout, it’s quick but it’s sweaty and hard!! As usual, the jump squats and rock star jumps nearly left me in a sweaty pile on the ground but I pushed through and finished it up.  I love that you can just pop a DVD in the machine and get a good workout, ahh technology!

I don’t know about you all, but I’m a sweaty beast.  I’m off to shower before Chris comes home and decides there will be no more married moments because he married an animal.  Just kidding! He loves me no matter how much I look and/or smell like a troll, true love!

I’m also working on some dinner using these things…

What could it be?? Swing by later on to find out!

Annie Given Sunday.

Well, someone in the McD household had a little too much fun at Buddy Pete’s farewell last night.  Let’s see if you can guess who it was by our breakfasts this morning…

My Breakfast…

Smiley face breakfast!

Whole grain toasted english muffin with peanut butter, banana slices and a little drizzle of honey.

Chris’s Breakfast…

Egg, sausage and cheese on a delicious greasy croissant.

Annie’s Breakfast…

Chomp! Chomp!

Rawhide stick.

You guessed it?! Annie got craaazzzyyyy last night!! Nawww just kidding, a certain husband buddy of mine had a little too much fun last night which sent us on a search for a big greasy hunk-o-egg sandwich this morning.  And, we succeeded in Potrero Hill at Hazel’s Kitchen. Thanks Hazel!

A lot of relaxing and general Sunday laziness followed breakfast.  With Chris not quite feeling 100%, we passed some time with one of our favourite activities…Annie games!

Warning! Annie montage to follow…prepare for cuteness.

Annie Scarf…

Annie Kisses

Shoulder Rides!

Laying some love on my lady..

And that concludes today’s episode of Annie Given Sunday! Poor Annie, she’s such a mellow sweetie that she will literally let us do anything to her as long as she gets hugs and kisses.

When we were finally up and about, I proceeded to do a little cleaning and, BIG news…I cleaned out all my wedding stuff! The magazines, the old leftover invitations, the notebooks of prices, comparisons etc are no longer in the building.  And I have to tell you…it feels awesome! The post wedding blues is slowly but surely fading away.  Success!

Following the clean out, we headed back on out to Ocean Beach to grab some lunch, check out a surf shop and say a proper goodbye to Buddy Pete who’s starting his drive to Maine tomorrow to do some awesome work with Mountain Rider’s Alliance for the winter. Drive safe Buddy!

Lunch was had at Beachside today and, as always, it was delicious! I opted for the fish tacos and a ginger ale and Chris and I split a side of mac and cheese.

Fish taco delight!

We left Beachside feeling full and happy!

When lunch had been had, new surfboards had been bought (yay for Chris!) and goodbyes had been said, Chris, Annie and I headed home with a little pit stop for the getting of some groceries.

We decided to stop on the way home instead of going to our usual Safeway.  Due to the fact that we also needed a Petco to get Annie supplies, we ended up shopping at Lucky supermarket for the first time. We were soooooo happy with this place! It was cheaper, you could actually get a trolley, the produce was plentiful and the people were so nice and helpful! A welcome change from our usual supermarket.  And now I’m happy to report that the fridge is full again! Hooray!

Full Fridge!!

Yogurt again! Hooray!!  And now I want to make something…hmmm what to make?

So our Sunday was nice and mellow, perfect beautiful Sunday in the bay.

I hope you all had an equally relaxing day or a fun action packed Sunday.  Enjoy your night everyone!

Red Bull Flugtag.

This afternoon Chris, Annie and I wandered on down to the Red Bull Flugtag that was being held in San Francisco today.  I have always heard about the Flugtag, but have never actually been around a city when it’s on so I was excited to check it out! And, being that it was walking distance for us, it was a no brainer for a Saturday afternoon.

When we made it down there, there were people everywhere! There were food trucks set up, red bull everywhere and people just generally having a good time and enjoying a chilly, sunny SF day.

Red Bull City!

For anyone that doesn’t know, the Flugtag is described by Red Bull as ‘where self taught pilots meet homemade flying machines’.  Just to paint the picture for you, imagine teams of people dressed up in crazy outfits (think high-heeled boots and leopard print spandex) launching insane flying machines off a huge ramp into the freezing bay! Fun? You betcha!

We smushed ourselves in with the big crowd to try to catch a glimpse of the launches first hand, but with the crowds as they were, we could barely see a thing! We managed to catch one launch where they actually did really well! And then we headed back into the main area.

Red Bull Flugtag

Flying Machines!

We saw one team getting ready on the lineup sporting red patent leather platform boots.  Props to those guys for even making it up to the ramp, let alone flying off it!

Work it boys!

I loved this event for several reasons, the main one being that it was like a real life version of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang!! Awesome.

Also awesome were the food trucks at the site! Chris opted for Filipino while I was still full from my pancake brunch.  He had the tacos and they were delicious (I definitely had room for a little taste!).

Filipino Delight!

Annie was getting a little food crazed from all the bits and pieces on the floor that we decided she needed a little cuddle break…

Let me at itttttttttt!

I enjoyed a SodaCraft spicy ginger soda which really hit the spot.  I am a huge ginger beer lover so this was right up my alley!

SodaCraft Spicy Ginger Soda!

We came, we saw we ate! Red Bull Flugtag was a lot of fun to check out and I’m glad we made it down there.

Lunch for me was a late one! I wasn’t hungry at all until 4pm! And then, I was starving! Luckily I had my delicious left over udon noodle bowl in the fridge.  I heated it up while I munched on my one left tempura pumpkin piece.  If it’s even possible, this noodle bowl got more delicious (and spicy) over night! The spice was a welcome taste for me today, I am embracing all things spice! It’s crazy, I do not have a very high tolerance for spice at all…until I’m sick, then I can eat spice until the cows come home!

Udon Noodle Bowl

With lunch done, we are getting ready (and rugging up!) to head out to the beach for a little farewell for our Buddy Pete.  Buddy Pete is moving to Maine for the winter to continue his awesome work with Mountain Riders Alliance.  If you’re love skiing/riding and love the environment, check out MRA.  They are doing awesome work in trying to develop, and run sustainable ski fields. Good work guys!

Have a wonderful Saturday night!!

New Woman!

I have been all over the map this afternoon, phew! I’m tired.

I started off with a sweet sweet pampering session at International Orange on Fillmore Street.  Thanks to my wonderful boss who got me a gift card as a wedding present to relieve the stress of wedding planning, I slipped into my silky gown, downed a couple of lemon and cucumber waters and then was transported to relax city!  I was then led into my private room and settled in for a nice 45 minute back, shoulder, neck and arm massage.  In short, it was heaven.

Following the massage, I decided to hang out there for a while and really do it up.  I helped myself to a couple of complimentary dark chocolate pieces and apricots and then went in for a shower utilising all the amazing products they had on hand.  I had a two-hour parking space after all!

I came out feeling totally relaxed and rejuvenated. I am thinking I should make a massage, even a quick one part of my monthly or bi-monthly routine.  Hmmm.

After the spa, I went to do some banking and then headed to Sports Basement to pick up some warmer running gear.  Ohhhh the choices in that place are so overwhelming!

After trying on a couple of things, I left with Under Armour Cold Gear compression tights, a Brooks long sleeve 1/4 zip running shirt (thumb holes, a must!), a warm headband and…some new runners! I had just intended to browse the shoe department but then I found some Mizuno Wave Inspire 8‘s in my size on super sale! They were down from $115 to $65! It was a sign.

New Gear!

Mizuno Wave Inspire 8!

After my successful shopping trip, I then popped over to the supermarket to pick up some groceries.  I was especially excited to have these babies on hand again…

Whole Grain English Muffins

I love having some english muffins on hand, they’re always so useful! Breakfast, lunch, dinner? They work for everything!

These babies also inspired my late lunch for today (my Quinoa breakfast held me over for 7 hours!).  I decided to fry up a couple of eggs, top then with a light sprinkling of cheese and pop them on an english muffin topped spread with some avocado.

Egg McFizz.

Someone was keeping a very close eye on my lunch. ..

Come on mum…just a little bit!

With a new relaxed feeling, new clothes and new groceries, I feel like a new woman!

Now I am going to relax a little, do some laundry and wait for my man to come home.  Weekend!!
